Beyond Delicious - Legacy Chocolate

Beyond Delicious - Legacy Chocolate

Have you noticed that the beneficial effects of chocolate go beyond simply being delicious? Many people feel happier after eating chocolate, and there is a good scientific reason for this. Chocolate is nature's antidepressant.

Eating chocolate stimulates the brain's opioid production. This, in turn, increases the brain's levels of dopamine. Chocolate also has a naturally occurring antidepressant called phenylethylamine (PEA), which increases serotonin levels in the brain. In fact, low PEA levels are found in depressed people. So that chocolate bark that you're looking at actually has an antidepressant effect on your brain.

Chocolate has a stimulating effect, too. Chocolate contains theobromine, which is a stimulant similar to caffeine – it differs by only one atom – but has a lighter effect. You'll feel more alert after eating chocolate but, unlike coffee, you won't have the jitters.

What we're saying is that if you need a little pick-me-up, stop by our shop in downtown St Paul. Our handcrafted chocolates are great for naturally changing the course of your day for the better. Check out our “apothecary” of flavor and we're sure you'll agree!
